Price level of organic products compared to non-organic in the Netherlands 2014-2019
Organic products sold in supermarkets and organic food stores in the Netherlands were 75 percent more expensive than 'regular' alternative products in 2019. Although this was a significant price difference, it was a decrease of 25 percent compared to the price difference in 2014. On average, organic specialty stores charged higher prices than supermarkets for organic food. When looking at supermarkets alone, the price difference between organic products and their generic counterparts was only 63 percent.
