Export volume of soy beans from South Africa 2000-2020
As of 2020/2021, South African soya beans export volume amounted to 4.5 thousand metric tons, which was the same value of that of the preceding year. Between 2009 and 2012, the export volume was over a 100 thousand metric tons, with an exception of 2011 when it dropped to 42.8 thousand metric tons. The significant increases in 2009, 2010, and 2012 can be linked to higher export prices, less capabilities of processing, and improved production of local soya beans. The significant drop that occurred during 2013 and 2012 are based on an improvement in the local crushing of soya beans capacity.
