Peru: maca (Peruvian ginseng) export value 2014-2020
Maca, also known as Peruvian ginseng, is a vegetable that grows mostly in the Andes region of Peru. Its main edible part is the root. Maca has a high nutritional value and there are claims relating this plant to fertility and enhanced sex drive. In 2020, maca exports from Peru amounted to 17.9 million U.S. dollars, slightly up from 12.4 million dollars a year earlier. Exports from the Andean country had been continuously decreasing since 2015. The U.S. remained the leading destination for Peruvian maca exports in 2020.
