ED visits change due to hurricane direct path by age U.S. 2005-2016

During the analyzed period between 2005 and 2016, the ED visit rate in counties that were in the direct path of a hurricane increased by around 48 percentage among those aged 65 years and older in the week the hurricane happened, and around 17 percent in the first week following the hurricane. The numbers are compared to pre-hurricane injury-related ED visit rates. This statistic illustrates the percent change in emergency department (ED) visits in U.S. counties being in the direct path of a hurricane 2005-2016, by age group of injury-related treat-and-release patients.
