Coronavirus stimulus package on support to firms in Egypt 2019-2021
The Egyptian government's coronavirus (COVID-19) stimulus package amounted to 109.6 billion Egyptian pounds (equivalent to 6.99 billion U.S. dollars) as of October 2020. Of those, roughly 54 percent was directed towards support to firms amounting to 58.77 billion Egyptian pounds (3.75 billion U.S. dollars). Moreover, the majority of the amount was set towards supporting industries with over 16 billion Egyptian pounds (one billion U.S. dollars). In 2019/2020, support to contractors was allocated the highest amount with up to 14 billion Egyptian pounds (890 million U.S. dollars).
