The Norwegian Sami parliament, located in Karasjok, was founded in 1989 by the Norwegian government to promote Sami culture and interests in Norway. Elections for the parliaments are held every four years, simultaneous with the Norwegian parliamentary election.

All Samis who are registered in the electoral register of the Norwegian Sami Parliament are entitled to vote.
