Chesapeake Energy's had total assets of 6.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, a decrease of roughly 60 percent compared to the previous year. Chesapeake Energy is the second largest producer of natural gas in the United States, and one of the biggest producers of oil and natural gas liquids, in addition to being the most active driller of new wells in the U.S. The company filled for bankruptcy in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and the oil demand decline. Nonetheless, the company emerged from bankruptcy in 2021, with a plan to expand its natural gas production.
