In 2021, approximately 666 males per 100,000 and 557 females per 100,000 in England were newly diagnosed with cancer, excluding non-melanoma skin cancer. Overall, the diagnosis rate for males showed a slight decreasing trend over the years, while the rate for females remained relatively stable with minor changes. * The source adds that the data for these analyses was extracted from the cancer registration database maintained by the National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) on October 6, 2022. It can take up to five years for cancer registrations in England to reach full completeness due to ongoing accrual of late registrations. While further changes may occur after five years as a result of later diagnostic testing, such late changes are uncommon.

Directly age- standardized using the 2013 update of the European standard population with an upper age band of 90+ (see methods for rates). Therefore, caution should be taken if comparing these rates to rates in previous releases.
