Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan examinations in Poland 2014-2020
The number of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan examinations conducted in Poland decreased by 65 thousand scans (-4.06 percent) in 2020 in comparison to the previous year. This was the first time during the observed period that the number of MRI scans declined in Poland.
MRI is an imaging technique designed to visualise internal structures of the body using magnetic and electromagnetic fields which induce a resonance effect of hydrogen atoms. The electromagnetic emission created by these atoms is registered and processed by a dedicated computer to produce the images of the body structures.
