The statistic shows the results of a non-binding popular consultation carried out in October 2016 and 2017 in the southern Brazilian states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul to find out about voters' opinion regarding a potential political separation of Brazil's southern region from the rest of the country. When asked whether they would support the formation of an independent country among the three most southern Brazilian states, approximately 96.3 percent of respondents answered affirmatively in 2017, up from 95.7 percent of votes in 2016.
