In the United States, consumers spent approximately 4.33 billion U.S. dollars on digital video rentals and sales in 2023, up by around 140 million U.S. dollars from the previous year. Transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) allows customers to purchase and rent content on a pay-per-view basis, rather than subscribing to a service in full as they would do for an SVOD platform. Meanwhile, disc sales and rentals have been falling recently to 1.56 billion dollars in total in 2023.
