Tourism volume in Venice in the Carnival month 2019-2023
The Carnival in Venice, Italy, attracts thousands of tourists. While the event's dates change annually, the festival is normally held between the start of February and the beginning of March. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, however, the Carnival had to be canceled in 2020 and only took place online in 2021. For the 2023 edition, the number of visitors to the Italian city in February was significantly higher than in the previous years, even surpassing pre-pandemic levels. That year, Venice welcomed nearly 335 thousand domestic and international tourist arrivals in February. In that year, the Carnival of Venice took place from February 4th to 21st.
