As of 2021, the market share of own-design passenger cars in China was 41.2 percent, an increase of 5.6 percent compared to 2020. However, the market share of mainstream Chinese joint ventures declined by nearly 6 percent to 45.6 percent that year. Luxury brands had a13.2 percent market share in 2021.
