Cooling degree days by region outlook 2050

The Indian Subcontinent recorded the highest cooling degree days (CDD) in 2018, at 1,961. This figure is expected to grow to 2,291 following changes in average daily temperatures and GDP growth. By comparison, North America's CDD amounted to 429. By 2050, figures for North America are projected to reach 619.
Cooling degree day (CDD) is a measurement to quantify the demand for energy needed to cool buildings. It is the cumulative difference between the outdoor temperature and a referenced indoor temperature of 21.1 degrees Celsius.
