U.S.: electric vehicle sales distribution by powertrain and manufacturer 2022
In 2022, most automakers in the United States experienced higher sales of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) compared to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). However, Stellantis and Mitsubishi exclusively sold PHEVs, while Toyota primarily focused on PHEVs with a 97 percent share. Notably, high-end car manufacturers like Volvo and BMW also saw greater sales of PHEVs over BEVs. In contrast, Tesla, GM, Nissan, and Mazda exclusively offered battery-electric vehicles for their 2022 electric vehicle sales.
