Area of sorghum for grain harvested in the U.S. 2001-2023
Around 6.1 million acres of sorghum were harvested for grain in the U.S. in 2023. After a low in 2019, the area harvested steadily increased before dropping again in 2022. Sorghum grown in the U.S. is mostly used for livestock feed and ethanol production, but it is also a popular grain for cereal.
