Number of detected fossil fuel thefts in Mexico 2001-2023
In 2023, roughly 12,000 cases of fossil fuel theft were detected in Mexico. The number of cases increased notably in the past decade, reaching nearly 15,000 in 2018. Since then, the Mexican government enforced a series of security measures, and cases initially decreased before rising again.
