The value of fintech transactions has consequently increased in recent years and is expected to reach over 145 billion U.S. dollars by 2022. Digital payments represent the highest share of transactional value of the industry, and are the segment with the highest growth forecast.
Various developments brought on by fintech recently have led to a growing number of digital payment users in France. This type of payment method has become a part of French people's habits, notably when it comes to online purchases.
The development of modern technology in the financial sector has also led to the emergence of a new kind of financing instrument: alternative finance. The French alternative finance market has considerably grown between 2014 and 2018 and in 2019, over 1.4 billion US dollars were collected via crowdfunding platforms. The success of these type of platforms is expected to keep growing in the next few years, as the number of alternative financing campaigns is expected to reach 23.3 thousands in 2023.
