In a week where the EU referendum was finally given a fixed date it also took next to no time for the battle lines to be drawn. Prime Minister Cameron, pro-EU having got an apparently satisfactory deal from his negotiations in Brussels, is now having to deal with the consequences of allowing his ministers a free vote come June 23. Amongst those choosing the opposite side to their party leader are high-profile figures such as Michael Gove and Boris Johnson.
According to a recent survey by Ipsos MORI, Johnson is second only to the Prime Minister when it comes to having an impact on how the public will vote. Others rating highly included Theresa May and George Osbourne. Despite recent jibes in parliament about his influence on a European scale (see "who are you?"), the opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn polled in the top five, at 27 percent, just five points below Johnson.
