While France to some degree prides itself on the quality and variety of the cheese produced there, the UK is actually home to more types - according to the British Cheese Board there are over 700 compared to around 400 in France. While quality is at least in part subjective, the export figures in the chart below show how popular these cheeses are with the French. In 2015, the country imported 22.7 million kilograms of UK cheese, second only to Ireland with 37 million kilograms.
