In 2021, revenue of the travel and tourism market in Russia decreased to around 9.23 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of over 4 billion U.S. dollars compared to 2020. The revenue of the biggest travel and tourism segment in Russia, the package holidays segment, increased to 5.42 billion U.S. dollars, while the hotels market increased to 2.1 billion dollars that year. The Statista Mobility Market Outlook estimates that revenue will continue to increase and by 2026 reach around 17.5 billion U.S. dollars.

Well-known providers of package holidays are online travel agencies (OTAs) such as Expedia and Opodo and tour operators such as TUI. Specialized providers of hotels and private accommodation booked online are, for example, Hotels.com, Booking.com, and Airbnb. The booking volume includes all booked travels made by users from the selected region, independent of the departure and arrival.

Offline bookings made, for example, in a travel agencies office or by telephone are also included in this segment
