Rum drinking frequency of consumers in the United States 2017

From light rums to golden and dark rums – the sugarcane-based spirit is a popular beverage in the United States. Only a few of the numerous reasons for drinking rum stated by the respondents would be the increase of fun, socializing with others, or just to loosen up a bit.
According to the Statista survey ‘’Alcoholic Beverages in the United States 2017’’, 11% of the consumers in the U.S. drink rum once a week. When asked for daily consume however, 2% of the respondents stated that they drink rum every day.

United States spirit industry

The U.S. spirit industry generated a sale of more than 150 million 9-liter cases in 2018. This figure was higher than every one of the previous six years and it amounted to about 37% of the total market share in the U.S. alcohol industry.
Vodka is the most popular product in the U.S. spirit industry. Made primarily of water and ethanol, the distilled alcoholic beverage generated a sales volume of more than 72-million 9-liter cases in the U.S. Whisky ranks second in this list followed by rum and tequila.
