Brand awareness of high end second-hand stores in the U.S. 2018

ThredUp was the most popular second-hand store specializing in selling luxury products in the United States in 2018: In that year, 31 percent of respondents in the U.S. were familiar with the online secondhand retailer specializing in buying and selling high-quality secondhand clothes online. Other well-known, high-end secondhand stores in the United States were Rebag, Luxury Resale Network and The RealReal.

Shopping for used items in the United States
People buy secondhand items for different reasons, but price seems to play a major role in this decision. When the desired items are available at a lower price than their newer counterparts, it allows shoppers to purchase their favorite items without putting a dent in their wallet. In 2020, the most popular pieces on the second-hand shopping list in the United States are clothes, books and shoes; these were also the most commonly sold items in general by U.S. consumers surveyed in 2017.

Having said that, used items are not the first choice when it comes to purchase gifts in the United States, as of 2017. The consumers surveyed also stated to rather purchase brand new items if the respective product is of importance to them.

Which of these second hand stores specializing in luxury products do you know?
