Number of sea cruise passengers in Amsterdam (Netherlands) 2009-2019
The number of passengers increased over the period between 2009 and 2018. In fact, sea cruise passengers in 2018 reached 450 thousand, increasing from approximately 332 thousand in 2017. However, as of 2019 the municipality of Amsterdam implemented a tourist tax for cruise passengers. To avoid such taxes, cruise companies did not moor in Amsterdam but arrived at other harbors in the Netherlands, such as Rotterdam for example. The harbor city received for the first time over 100 cruise calls in 2019.
