Renewable sources represented 100 percent of Paraguay's primary energy production between 2016 and 2020. In the latter year, hydroenergy accounted for approximately 52.7 percent of the country's production, down from more than 60 percent two years earlier. In turn, the contribution of biomass as a source increased from some 40 to 47.3 percent in the same period.
