Between the years 2015 and 2019, the value of the e-commerce market spread across Southeast Asia has grown eightfold. In 2019, the retail e-commerce market volume in the Philippines was fixed at 2.5 billion U.S. dollars, ranking it fourth after Indonesia.

Competition reigns high as both small and large businesses of domestic and foreign origin jostle for an online presence, an element integral to this industry. eBay is the most popular C2C online store as per the number of followers it has accrued on Instagram while Lazada, a B2C e-commerce site is far more popular on Facebook.
