United Kingdom: nurses and midwives joining and leaving the register 2017-2022

This statistic displays the number of nursing staff that have joined and left the Nursing and Midwifery Council register from 2017/18 to 2021/22. Up until 2018/19, the number of staff leaving outnumbered the amount joining. Since then, however, the nursing staff headcount increased. In 2021/22, over 48 thousand nurses and midwives joined the nursing register in the UK, while roughly 27 thousand left.
