Number of employees tourism sector South Korea 2021, by business type
In 2021, around 56.32 thousand people were employed in businesses dealing with tourist lodging and accomodation. Businesses in tourism travel, such as travel agencies, also had a large amount of employees, at a similar amount. The total number of employees within the South Korean tourism industry dropped dramatically with the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
