Total internal migration within Russia 2000-2021
Over 3.6 million people migrated within Russia in 2021, marking an increase by roughly 83 thousand migrants compared to the previous year. In the early 2000s, the number of migrants within the territory of Russia exceeded two million people. Later on, the figures steadily shrank, reaching 1.7 million in 2009. After 2010, the volume of internal migration started to expand again, peaking at over 4.3 million in 2018.
