German school exchange students 2018

This statistic shows the number of German high school students who have participated in a school exchange for the school years 2002/03 to 2017/18. The students stayed in their designated exchange country for at least 3 months. According to data published by Weltweiser, the number of German exchange students peaked during the years 2009/10 and 2010/11 at roughly 20.000 students and has been gradually declining since then. During 2017/18 the number of German students participating in student exchanges amounted to 15.9 thousand.
