GDP from manufacturing in Thailand 2012-2021

In 2021, the manufacturing sector contributed approximately 4.37 trillion Thai baht to Thailand's gross domestic product, which amounted to around 15.6 trillion Thai baht that year. The GDP contribution of the manufacturing sector has been fluctuating in the past decade.

The key segments of manufacturing sector in Thailand

Thailand is one of the largest manufacturing hubs in the world, with leading segments such as electrical and electronic appliances, automobiles and parts, and food products. As of February 2022, the manufacturing production index (MPI) of food products in Thailand was the highest among other segments, scoring at 125.09 index points. In addition, soybean oil had the highest production growth among other food products in 2020, closely followed by frozen fish.

Thailand’s exports of manufactured goods

Thailand is one of the world’s leading exporters of manufactured goods. Some of the key product categories for Thailand’s exports are electronics, electrical appliances, and automobiles. Electronic products accounted for the largest share of manufactured goods exports in the country as of February 2022, accompanied by vehicles. Thailand also exports a large volume of electrical appliances and equipment: around 70 percent of local production of such goods was aimed for exports in 2020.
