In 2019, the number of active postal POS terminals in Italy was approximately 136 thousand. Over the period considered in the graph, the number of such terminal increased significantly. In fact, in 2012, there were approximately 53 thousand postal POS terminals. Such an increase in just a few years was probably due to the increasing popularity of cashless payments and the ease of using debit or credit cards when paying for goods or services rather than using cash.
