Instagram users share in Russia 2022, by age group

As of February 2022, there were over 64.1 million Instagram users in Russia, the majority of which was aged from 25 to 34 years, measuring at 32 percent of total users. In terms of gender distribution, the female users’ share was greater than that of men among all age groups.  

Instagram usage in Russia

    Instagram has been gaining popularity in Russia gradually over the past years. The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has also significantly contributed to the audience growth on the platform - from February to April, the users’ volume grew by about three million. However, as of the third quarter of 2020, it ranked fourth by penetration rate after YouTube, Vkontakte, and WhatsApp.

Global overview

    Over a decade of its existence, Instagram has amounted to over one billion users worldwide since 2010. To compare, its parent company Facebook, accounted for about three times greater users’ volume by the fourth quarter of 2021. With roughly 114.6 million of Instagram account owners, United States was one of the leading regions by the number of users of this social network in 2020.
