In 2017, the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais was the largest gold producer in Brazil, with 28.75 metric tons. This represented more than 48 percent of the country's gold mine production that year. Production in Goiás ranked second, with approximately 15 tons, making up 25.5 percent of the country's production.
