In 2020, same store merchandise sales of Speedway decreased by 0.2 percent in the United States, when compared to the previous period. Speedway is among the leading convenience stores across the country in terms of number of stores. Until 2020, the brand was owned and operated by Marathon Petroleum Corporation. In August of that year, the oil company agreed to sell Speedway to 7-Eleven.
