Indian Railways employed personnel FY 2022, by department
The department of mechanical engineering of Indian Railways had the highest amount of personnel at nearly 283.6 thousand employees at the end financial year 2023. The department is separate from the engineering department, which itself had around 281.2 thousand employed personnel across the country.
