During the survey conducted on preferred shopping channels throughout the festive season in 2020 across India, 75 percent of the respondents preferred shopping online. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, only about 37 percent of the respondents preferred shopping in malls that year. The various discount schemes were a major contributor to the increasing trend of online shopping, in addition to the latter not being restricted by location.
