During the Dragon Boat festival of 2017, cellphones was the largest product category on JD.com e-commerce platform in terms of consumer spending with almost 50 percent of expenditure share. The Dragon Boat festival was among top five festivals in China for online consumer spending that year.

The Dragon Boat festival is a traditional annual celebration of Chinese origin which occurs on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. The festival commemorates the death of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan. Dragon boat race is one of the traditional activities on that day. The festival fell on May 30 in 2017.
