Types of antimicrobials used to treat groups of cattle on U.S. feedlots in 2016
Injectable antimicrobials are one of the most common ways of treating and preventing bovine respiratory disease among feedlot cattle in the U.S. However, recent data suggests that the widespread usage of these antimicrobials may contribute to antimicrobial resistance among animals and humans. As of 2016, approximately 4.4 percent of U.S. feedlot cattle were treated with tulathromycin as a group. At that time another 2.9 percent of feedlot cattle were treated with gamithromycin.
