Canadian airports: capital expenditure on security 2021

Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) accounted for the largest share in the capital expenditure on security at Canadian airports, amounting to over 42.5 million Canadian dollars. EDS capital expenditures consist of the acquisition of screening equipment for pre-board screening (PBS), hold-baggage screening (HBS), non-passenger screening (NPS), and the associated installation and integration costs. Amid the COVID-19, these expenditures dropped by 53 percent compared with the 2019 levels.
