Distribution of U.S. births in 2018, by ethnicity and gestational age

In 2018, around 57 percent of births in the U.S. were full term births, while 10 percent were preterm. Among non-Hispanic black women around 14 percent of births were preterm, a higher share than what was found among white and Hispanic women.
