Japan: disagreement with social media ban due to platforms being news sources 2019

According to a survey conducted by Ipsos in June 2019, a slight majority of Japanese respondents agreed that cutting off social media during times of crisis is unacceptable due to the importance of platforms as an information source, with around ten percent strongly agreeing to the statement.
The background of the survey was a temporary social media ban by the government in Sri Lanka in April 2019 in the wake of a fatal terrorist attack.
