In 2018, the area illegally cultivated with coca in the Central region of Colombia reached more than 60 thousand hectares, the highest figure registered in the period displayed. This represents an increase of nearly seven-fold in comparison to 2013, when the illegally cultivated area in the region added up to almost nine thousand hectares. As of 2018, Central was the Colombian region with the second largest area of illegal coca cultivation.
