In 2018, the area illegally cultivated with coca in the Pacific region of Colombia decreased in comparison to the previous year, reaching 62.5 thousand hectares. That area had increased by more than 250 percent in the period between 2013 and 2017. As of 2018, Pacific was the Colombian region with the largest area of illegal coca cultivation.
