In 2015, 49.7 percent of Japanese respondents in an opinion poll answered that they were worried about possible terrorism in Japan. Considering an additional 29.6 percent of respondents who answered that they were somewhat worried, it can be deduced that a large majority of almost 80 percent of respondents were concerned about terrorism. Of those who were worried or somewhat worried, a majority cited the involvement of Japanese nationals in terrorism attacks overseas as well as the emergence of terrorist groups like ISIL as
