Main reasons why Japanese are having a bad impression of South Korea 2019
In a survey conducted in 2019, among those Japanese respondents who had a negative or somewhat negative impression of South Korea, 52.1 percent referred to the ongoing criticism of Japan on behalf of South Korea as a reason for their negative perception. Fairly recent developments, like the South Korean court ruling regarding the wartime labor issue and the radar lock-on incident of 2018, were not cited as frequently as the long-term issues usually associated with tensions between the two countries.
