According to a report analyzing mental health portrayals in film and television in the United States, there were just eight LGB characters with a mental health condition across the top 50 most popular TV shows throughout the 2016 to 2017 season, and one character shown with such a condition in film. During the same time period, no transgender characters were depicted with a mental health condition across either the top 200 movies or 50 TV shows analyzed.
