Share of adults who saw a dentist in England 2020-2023
In June 2023, approximately four in ten adults in England had seen a dentist in the previous two years. The share of patients seen by a dentist has been steadily decreasing since March 2020 to an all time low in March 2022 and has since increased, but is no way near pre-pandemic levels. This turning point coincides with WHO's announcement of ending the global emergency status for COVID-19 in May 2023. However, in England routine dental care began to reopen from 8th of June 2020 and the share of children seen by a dentist started to increase since then.
