Share of digital comic readers that purchased merchandise South Korea 2021, by gender
Around 40.7 percent of male readers of digital comics in South Korea stated that they purchased merchandise related to a character that had appeared in a digital comic according to a survey conducted in 2021. An additional 38.1 percent of female readers did the same. Comics, or manhwa, are popular in South Korea. The majority of South Korean readers consumed comics in a digital format in 2021.
