Global new energy generating capacity by source 2019
As of 2019, solar photovoltaic (PV) is by far the prevalent power generation source installed, with 117 gigawatts. The second most common energy source installed was wind, with 61 gigawatts. In that same year, there were 18 gigawatts of net power capacity added using coal.
